Some users have reported trouble loading iCivics Unity-based games on Chromebooks. Because every Chromebook device is different, issues require that our tech team investigate each issue individually. If you are experiencing an issue, please submit a ticket with our Support Team. In your ticket, include:
- A description of the problem
- The make and model of your Chromebook
- Any applicable screenshots that illustrate the issue
Once you submit your ticket, our Support Team will contact you with a response. To submit your ticket, click here.
Many of our games are also available as apps in the Google Play store. If your Chromebook supports the installation of Android apps, you may wish to use the app version of our games as an alternative to accessing our games on the web. To check if your Chromebook supports app installation, click here.
If you are accessing our games from the web, please be aware that our Unity-based web games use about 700 MB of memory on its Chrome tab. In addition, they use about 200 MB of memory in the GPU process. Customers can see how much memory their Chromebook is using by following these instructions: https://beebom.com/how-to-check-system-information-in-chrome-os/
We advise 2 GB of RAM as the minimum for all Unity games but 4 GB of RAM is highly recommended. If you have 2 GB you must make sure that the game you are playing is the only application/tab running including extensions.
*We strive to make our games accessible to a wide range of students. Every Chromebook device is different, and we are working to support additional models. If you would like to have your model added to the list, please submit a ticket specifying the make/model and memory for your Chromebook.
